Leader's Bookshelf: Talking to Crazy by Mark Goulston

Don’t let the title of this book scare you off. Dr. Goulston provides us with a variety of tools in an accessible way that will help you deal with the people in your life that may be making you feel like you’re going a little crazy.

We all have those people in our lives. People we feel act irrationally or are impossible to deal with. They could be family, friends, co-workers, customers or even people you just casually run into in your life. No matter where you find them, they make your life more difficult and Dr. Goullston reveals some of the warning signs that can let you know that things are heading south. He also has lots of suggestions for dealing with these situations.

The book is well written and has enough of the neuroscience for people like me who want to understand that part of behavior without turning it into an academic text. It easy to read and understand and frankly, his advice works. It may not be easy to handle the ‘crazy in your life, but recognizing, understanding and dealing with it is a whole lot better than suffering.

A must ready for all leaders and for anyone dealing with other people (which I think is all of us).
