The Monster Audit — Kill One This Week

One of the 48 tools in The Right Altitude is the Monster Audit.
Every leader builds monsters. Not on purpose. One good decision at a time until the thing you built is consuming you.
Four monsters:
“I’ll do it myself” — you started because nobody else could. That was true once. It hasn’t been true for a while.
“Always available” — it started as responsiveness. Then it became a leash.
“Only I can do this” — nobody else is ready because you never let them try.
“Automatic yes” — every request gets a yes. Your calendar is the evidence.
The audit: write down the four. Name the specific version in your calendar right now. Not the concept — the actual meeting, the actual channel, the actual project.
Then pick one. Kill it this week.
That’s one of 48. The other 47 are in the book.
