The Narrator

Every leader has a reputation. A story that follows them. It shows up in how people describe you when you're not around.

Here's the question most people never ask: who wrote that story?

If you didn't write it intentionally, someone else did. And their version might not match yours.

The leaders who are great at navigating organizations aren't louder. They're intentional. They narrate — not with "look what I did," but with clarity about what they do, why it matters, and where they're taking it.

The narrative you build isn't for you. It's for the people who need accurate information to make good decisions about your career.

You either narrate your own story or inherit whatever default people assign you. "She's solid." "He's reliable." Those might be true. But if that's all anyone says — that's all you are.

What's the story that follows you? And is it the one you'd choose?
