Who Leaves First

Here is the thing nobody tells the Buddy until the exit interview. His best people leave first. Not the ones he has been protecting. The ones who were carrying them. They leave politely, they say the team was great, they say he was the kindest manager they ever had, and all of it is true. They leave because kindness that never holds a line is a tax, and they were the ones paying it. The nicest manager on the floor is losing the people who deserved him most, and the exit interviews will never say so.
