The team really did need him through Q4. She never told herself “I’m holding him back.” She told herself “I’m protecting him” — and she had a dozen good reasons, each one true, and together they added up to 3 years in the same seat.
That’s how hoarding works. It never feels like taking. It feels like care. The test isn’t whether your reasons are good. It’s whether the reasons are ever absent. If now is never the right time, the timing was never the variable.
