Reading the room is a real skill and the Chameleon has it. She can feel a meeting shift before anyone speaks. The problem is what she does with the read. Most leaders use it to decide how to say the thing. She uses it to decide what the thing is. Every room gets a position shaped to fit it, and after enough rooms there is no position left
underneath, only a very good sense of what each audience wants to hear. That is not influence. That is an echo with a title.
