The Drawer Full of Evidence

I worked with a Chief People Officer last year.

Twelve years in leadership. Trusted by the CEO. Three years of clear, documented results.

She came to coaching because she felt like she was “just making it up as she went.”

I asked her to walk me through the last three years.

When she finished, I said:

“You have a drawer full of evidence that you belong in that room.

You just described it to me for twenty minutes.

Why are you keeping it in a drawer?”

She didn’t have an answer.

Most people don’t.

The problem isn’t the absence of evidence.

It’s the habit of discounting it.

What would you see if you actually opened the drawer?
