Clarity. We often soften hard messages to be “kind.” We hedge. We hint. We hope they get it. But clear is kind. Unclear is unkind.

Depth. It’s tempting to stay on the surface. It’s faster. Safer. More comfortable. But in coaching, I’ve learned: the presenting issue is rarely the real issue. The real one lives underneath — beneath the first response, beneath the obvious explanation, beneath what everyone already agrees on. Go deeper, not wider. One good question, followed through, reveals more than ten surface-level ones. Where in your life would going deeper serve you right now?

Perspective. It's easy to get lost in the details. The urgent email. The difficult conversation. The problem that feels all-consuming. But the best leaders know how to zoom out. To see the bigger picture. To ask: will this matter in a year? In five years? To remember what they're actually building. Today's crisis is rarely as defining as it feels in the moment. What would change if you zoomed out?

Awareness. This is where all meaningful change begins. Not motivation. Not strategy. Not effort. Awareness.

Intention. The excitement of New Year's Day has settled. Now comes the real work: turning possibility into action.
