The Lighthouse

There's a difference between being a spotlight and being a lighthouse.
A spotlight is performative. It swings around looking for attention. People can feel it. And they tune it out.
A lighthouse just exists. It shines steadily — not to draw attention to itself, but so others can navigate.
The leaders I coach who are great at managing up aren't self-promoters. They're lighthouses. They make it easy for others to see where they are and what they're working on. Not through grand announcements — through steady, clear signals.
Being visible isn't being loud. It's making it easy for the right people to understand your value without having to guess.
Be a lighthouse, not a spotlight.
